With the changing times, regifting is no more a taboo. There has been a shift n gifting habits in recent years. As people get more aware of the environment and how much we are acquiring, regifting is not as bad as it was five years ago. Though people are more open about regifting, and it’s no more a fauxpas, there are some points which you need to consider before you rewrap the unwanted gift.
- Don’t just regift it because you did not like it. Gift it only when you know that the person you are regifting it to likes it and will be using it.
- ALWAYS open the gifts and rewrap and don’t forget to check for any personally addressed cards or tags.
- The items you are regifting should be new. You cannot try your gift and then regift it if you do not like it.
- Avoid regifting in the same circles. If you have too many unwanted gifts, label/tag them to remember from which circle you got it. If you got a gift from your work group, it is ok to regift it in your family group instead of giving it to someone at work.
Go ahead and regift but don’t forget the golden rules of regifting.
